DELICIOUS SMOOTHIES TO GET GLOWING SKIN THIS SUMMER

1: Mango Surprise Smoothie
Make the most of this mango season before the mangoes disappear from the markets. Stay cool and get glowing skin and a slim tummy with this low-fat mango smoothie. You can have this mango smoothie for breakfast because it is quite filling and you won’t feel hungry for long.
- ¼ mango cubes
- ¼ fat-free vanilla yogurt
- ¼ mashed ripe avocado
- 1 Tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- ½ c mango juice
- 6 ice cubes
COMBINE the mango, avocado, mango juice, yogurt, lime juice, sugar, and ice cubes in a blender. Process until gets smooth. Garnish with sliced mango or strawberry, if desired.
2: Uper Green Smoothie
Leafy greens are another good source of carotenoids—just one cup of kale has nearly 10 times the minimal amount you need per day.
- 1¼ chopped kale leaves (stems and tough rib removed)
- 1¼ frozen cubed mango
- 2 med ribs celery, chopped
- 1 chilled fresh orange juice
- ¼ chopped flat-leaf parsley
- ¼ chopped fresh mint
COMBINE all ingredients in blender. Puree until smooth.
3: Gingered Cantaloupe Smoothie
This smoothie contains more than 6 mg of beta-carotene and a smidge of alpha-carotene thanks to its cantaloupe content.
- 20 ice cubes
- 2 cubed cantaloupe (about ½ melon)
- 6 oz low-fat plain yogurt
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp grated fresh ginger
COMBINE ice cubes, cantaloupe, yogurt, sugar, and ginger in blender and puree until smooth.
4: Blue Pineapple
This purple powerhouse is chock-full of antioxidant goodness. We’ve packed a wide variety of produce into this cocktail. Blueberries and acai berries contain anthocyanins and quercetin that help reduce inflammation and sharpen mental faculties. Tomatoes contain lycopene that may help reduce the risk of cancer. Pineapples and oranges add a tart hit of fiber and vitamin C!
- 4 oz pineapple
- 1 tbsp acai berry powder
- 3 oz tomatoes
- 2 oz blueberries
- 1 orange – peeled
- 1 tbsp hemp seed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup ice
COMBINE ice cubes, pineapple, tomatoes, hemp seed, peeled orange, acai berry powder, blueberries, peeled ginger and water in blender and puree until smooth.
5: Apricot Smoothie
Apricots are one of the best sources of carotenoids around. The dose you’ll get from the canned ‘cots in this smoothie tallies up to 10 mg per serving.
- 12 pitted canned apricot halves (packed in juice), drained
- 1 c skim milk
- ⅔ c nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt
- ⅛ tsp almond extract
COMBINE apricots, milk, frozen yogurt and almond extract in a food processor or blender. Process until smooth.
